Fish Tacos Recipe with Fresh Slaw
Ingredients
For the Tacos:
- Walleye fillets
- Hi Mountain Seasonings Bayou Bass Seasoning
- Butter
- Flour tortillas (I prefer uncooked ones that you cook fresh when ready to eat)
- Feta or Cotija cheese
For the Slaw:
- ½ red onion, thinly sliced and cut into 1-2” pieces
- ½ bunch of cilantro, finely chopped
- 1 jalapeño, diced
- ½ bag of coleslaw mix (or ½ head of cabbage, shredded)
- 2 Tbsp avocado oil
- 2 Tbsp lemon or lime juice
- Salt to taste

Instructions:
Prepare Walleye
- After filleting the walleye, cut it into 1-2” chunks.
- Season generously with Hi Mounta Seasonings Bayou Bass Seasoning.
Pan-Sear the Fish:
- Melt butter in a skillet over medium heat, ensuring the pan is fully coated.
- Pan-sear walleye pieces for 3-5 minutes until golden brown.
- Flip and cook for an additional 3-5 minutes until fully cooked.
- Remove from heat and set aside.
Cook Tortillas
- If using uncooked tortillas, place them on a griddle and cook according to the package instructions.
- If using pre-cooked tortillas, warm them on a griddle, in the microwave, or in the oven.
Prepare Slaw:
- In a mixing bowl, combine all slaw ingredients.
- Stir well until evenly mixed.
Assemble Tacos:
- Place 2-3 pieces of cooked fish on each tortilla.
- Top with fresh slaw and a sprinkle of feta or Cotija cheese.
- Serve immediately and enjoy!
